QUESTION #6

How about this statement: The closer we get to Christ, the less we will be tempted.

True or False?

I hope you said False! Just the OPPOSITE is true. The closer we get to Christ, the MORE we are tempted!

Surprised? Don't be. Why should the devil tempt someone who isn't a Christian? That person already belongs to him.

"Turkeys" will tell us that we need to get closer to Jesus, which gives the impression that there is a great deal of distance between a believer and the Lord. But what does the Word of God say? Check out Romans 8:9 and 11 and you'll discover that the Spirit dwells WITHIN US. How much closer than that can you get? He's closer than the very air we breathe.

You'll find that every time you make progress in your Christian life, satan's attacks will become more intense than before. Why? He's mad and is going to do everything he can to hinder and discourage you. Frankly, temptation is one of the proofs that we ARE Christians!

So remember -- you are as close to Jesus as you can get now! (But you can, however, MAKE PROGRESS in your walk with Him!) It's really a question of position vs maturity, or growth!
