SOWING THE RIGHT KIND OF SEED

I was blogging yesterday about some devotional thoughts my husband and I have been reading. The author pointed out from Proverbs three essentials to follow if you want to see the promises of God's Word fulfilled.

The Scripture is Proverbs 4:20-21: Attend to My Words; incline thine ear unto My sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

Those two verses contain all three essentials:

1. There must be THE ATTENTIVE EAR. ("Incline thine ear unto my sayings.")

2. There must be THE STEADFAST LOOK. ("Let them not depart from thine eyes.")

3. There must be THE ENSHRINING HEART. ("Keep them in the midst of thine heart.")

The author goes on to liken God's Word to good seed that one plants in a garden that will produce a harvest of whatever you plant. When your eyes are on your circumstances and your mind is occupied with your problems and troublesome situations more than with God's Word, you have planted the wrong kind of seed; namely the seed of doubt! You are trying to raise one kind of a crop from another kind of seed, and it just won't work. In other words, it is impossible to sow tares and reap wheat.

What kind of seed have you been planting in your spiritual garden? Think about it!
